Cool Head Averts Panic

Ogden Standard Examiner, 13 October 1904, page 8

What might have been a disastrous panic was averted at the Bon Ton theatre last night.  A lightning bolt is thought to have shorted one of the heavily charged light wires with the result that a fire was started in the moving picture machine gallery.  The people began a confused exit when J. Yost , the stage manager, yelled, “For God's sake keep cool.  There is no danger.  Turn around and see what a little fire it is.”  The crowd did so and calm ensued.  The audience watched the fire with interest and after it was out left the theatre by the side entrance.
