Megaplex Theatres Movie Goers Will See Billions of Colors with New Digital Cinema Technology. Recently Announced, the Megaplex 8 at Thanksgiving Point has Converted 100% of Theatre Auditoriums to Digital Cinema.

 

Salt Lake City, UT, September 6, 2007The Megaplex Theatres, part of the entertainment division of the Larry H. Miller Group, Inc., announced the Megaplex 8 at Thanksgiving Point has been 100% converted to digital cinema. With 53 out of 70 screens converted to digital, the Megaplex Theatres is the number one digital cinema provider in Utah and among the top 10% of theatres in the nation in digital cinema conversion.

 

Hailed as the largest technology advancement in movies since the inception of sound, digital cinema continues to expand at Megaplex Theatres. The Megaplex 8 at Thanksgiving Point, Lehi, joins Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons , Sandy, and the Megaplex 12 at the Gateway, Salt Lake City , in having 100% of movie auditoriums converted to digital. The Megaplex 13 at the Junction, Ogden, and the Megaplex 20 at the District, South Jordan , has been digitally converted in select auditoriums.

Megaplex Theatres utilizes NEC® and BARCO® projectors that contain DLP Cinema® technology. The DLP Cinema ® technology from Texas Instruments® is among the world’s most sophisticated light systems. Light chips contain an array of hinge-mounted microscopic mirrors that can produce over 2.2 million pixels and billions of colors. The end result is a remarkable digital image that will impress even the most sophisticated movie goers.
