Award-Winning Bluegrass Musicians to Perform in Gunnison

Press Release
Casino Star Theatre, 26 January 2008
A lively evening of bluegrass is in store this Thursday, January 31. Cold Creek, Utah's Premier Bluegrass Band, will take the stage at Gunnison Valley High School at 7:00 p.m. The concert is part of the series arranged by the Casino Star Theatre Foundation and Snow College's Convocation Program, with funding support from the Utah Arts Council.

Hailing from American Fork, Cold Creek performs across Utah and the western states at such events as the Founder's Title Bluegrass Festival at Snowbird, the Bannock County Bluegrass Festival in Pocatello, Idaho, the Wolf Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Santa Cruz, CA, and the Durango Meltdown in Colorado.

The band is comprised of Bill Sprunger on guitar and lead vocals, Blaine Nelson on banjo, Nate Olson on fiddle, Andrea Ivey Banner on bass and lead vocals, and Jake Workman on mandolin. These talented musicians have been playing together for many years in various capacities and make up a truly outstanding bluegrass band.

Last year Bill won first and Jake won second place honors in the Utah state mandolin competition, but Jake finished first ahead of Bill's second place in guitar. Bill also finished first in fiddling. The best of the best are performing at this concert.

The music of Cold Creek features tight harmonies, incredible picking and playing, and interesting arrangements, along with great original tunes. These five musicians love to entertain, and their live show has wowed audiences and made them a favorite of fans.

Tickets are available at the Sanpete Messenger office in Manti, Rasmussen's Ace Hardware in Gunnison, and at the door. The suggested donation for adults is $8.00 and for seniors and students $5.00. Cold Creek will have CD's for sale at the concert.
