Utah County residents have a new large screen option to see Hollywood's biggest films thanks to a strategic partnership between Megaplex Theatres and the 3D Mammoth Screen at Thanksgiving Point. Movie fans will continue to enjoy the popular educational features on the 3D Mammoth Screen during the day, plus Hollywood blockbusters. The new arrangement starts immediately with Avatar, the highest grossing movie of all time and will continue with DreamWorks new animated 3D feature How to Train Your Dragon starting on March 26, 2010.
"This is great news for Utah County movie fans since it offers guests more choices throughout the evenings and weekends and expands the use of the 3D Mammoth Screen facility," said Blake Andersen, General Manager of Megaplex Theatres.
"We're very excited about this partnership. This extra screen will allow us to offer even more choices to Megaplex Theatres guests and help introduce even more people to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point."
In essence, Megaplex Theatres will operate the 3D Mammoth Screen as a ninth screen at its Thanksgiving Point location during key times during evenings and weekends, when the 3D Mammoth Screen would not normally be in operation. The 3D Mammoth Screen will remain closed on Sundays.
"This creates a fantastic new opportunity for the 3D Mammoth Screen and will hopefully introduce more people to our amazing facility and programs," said Gary Hyatt, Director of the Museum of Ancient Life.
"Megaplex Theatres and the 3D Mammoth Screen offer guests at Thanksgiving Point a wide selection of popular movies as well as fascinating educational 3D features, including A Rain Forest Adventure, Bugs!, Ocean Wonderland, and Dinosaurs-Giants of Patagonia."
Megaplex Theatres has already made arrangements with several Hollywood studios to offer major new releases on the 3D Mammoth Screen. Negotiations continue with other studios to further expand the schedule. Guests will be able to purchase reserved seats online via the Megaplex Theatres website.
The 3D Mammoth Screen at Thanksgiving Point is the largest screen in Utah County, measuring over 63 feet wide by 45 feet tall. The projection system is Dolby Digital 3D. The auditorium seats 329 guests.
