Casino Star Theatre Announces 2010-11 Live Concerts

Press Release
Casino Star Theatre, 21 August 2010

The Casino Star Theatre Foundation proudly announces its outstanding schedule of live performances for the 2010-11 season. All performances, unless otherwise noted, will take place in the beautifully restored interior of the theatre at 78 S Main, Gunnison, and all will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Coming up on Tuesday, September 14—only three weeks away—former Utah Jazz star Thurl Bailey will open the season with an evening of song. This special program is part of the Casino Star’s collaboration with Excellence in the Community Concerts.

Chris Proctor, Utah’s premier finger-style guitarist, is scheduled for Thursday, October 14. Chris last visited the Casino Star in 2008, and is eager to perform again for the warm and appreciative audience Gunnison provides.
On Friday, December 3, the Casino Star Stage will be graced by Lark & Spur, another Excellence in the Community group. Led by Jeff Whiteley and Lori Decker, the quintet features two guitars, a stand-up bass, woodwinds, and Lori’s angelic voice soaring above.

The January program, on Wednesday the 19th, brings the Phat Old Professors from Snow College, with Fine Arts Dean Vance Larsen and members of the Music Department Faculty playing music of the ‘70s.

“March may well seem like overkill,” noted Diana Spencer, “but we have the opportunity to host BOTH the Utah Shakespearean Festival and the Utah Opera Company—on THEIR schedules.” Both organizations wanted the same week, but Diana persuaded the Shakespeare company to come a week early.

The Utah Shakespearean Festival touring company will present Macbeth on Tuesday, March 15, followed the next week by the Utah Opera Company on Thursday, March 24.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and students. Season tickets will soon be available at $45 for adults and $30 for seniors and students. For season tickets, call Diana Spencer at 435-979-2798. Tickets for individual performances will be available at Rasmussen’s Ace Hardware in Gunnison, the Sanpete Messenger office in Manti, and KopyKat Printing in Ephraim.
