Students from the Academy of Performing Arts will perform “The Tempest” on 21 July 2000 at the Liberty Wells Center, 700 South 400 East. The production will be a fund-raiser to help with costs for the troupe's performance on 24 July 2000 at the Utah Shakespearean Festival's Adams Memorial Theatre. Some of the Academy's students from low-income families are struggling to pay their travel and lodging expenses. Their appearance at the Festival is part of a week long showcase of performances by children from schools in the region.
The Academy is still looking for a permanent home after losing two temporary venues in the last several months. The second venue, the Lighthouse Theatre, changed ownership.
