The Ideal Theater opened as a movie theater in 1964. In 1991, the first several rows of seats were removed so that a stage could be built in front of the movie screen. On 17 October 1991, Wasatch Playhouse presented the first live theater in Davis County, "Reserve Two for Murder." The theater company hoped to present six plays a year.
