8 Provo Theaters Will Offer Movies for $1

The grand opening ceremoy for the Cinemark Movies 8, on Thursday, 6 October 1988, was attended by almost 2,000 dignitaries from throughout the community. The theater, which opens to the public on Friday night, 7 October 1988, charges $1 admission for movies that have left first-run movie houses but have not yet been released on video.
Movies 8 has the first auditorium in Utah with the Lucasfilm Ltd. THX Sound System. The other seven theaters seat about 300 each and are equipped with stereo sound. The theater, located at 2424 N. University Parkway in the Plum Tree Shopping Center, also houses a game room in its modern decor of neon signs and bright colors. The theater has 40 employees.
