Summary:
The Kamas Theater was reopened on 26 December 2003 by Phil Clegg, who was born and raised in Kamas and now lives in Pleasant Grove. While visiting relatives in Kamas, Clegg noticed the "For Rent" sign in the local theater. He inquired about the space, crunched the numbers and eventually, signed the lease.
Duing the last year, Phil Clegg and his in-laws bought the Towne Cinemas in American Fork.
Clegg has only signed a one-year lease on the theater, but he has already invested money in improvements. Over the month of January, the theater is receiving approximately 300 new seats with cup holders. The theater floor will receive a fresh coat of paint soon and Clegg is already planning a deep cleaning of the entire interior.
The theater also has a stage for live entertainment and Clegg hopes to entice residents from outside the immediate areas to visit with special events. If business is strong enough, he will consider opening the theater six nights a week.
