Provo Theaters Tangle Over 'Pretty Woman'
Deseret News, 3 August 1990, page B3
Summary:
Buena Vista Distribution released "Pretty Woman" to the dollar-movie houses in Utah County while Mann's Central Square Theaters was still scheduled to show it at first run prices. The manager of the Central Square complained to Mann corporate headquarters and was later told to let patrons into the movie for free. But then Buena Vista pulled the movie from the dollar theaters, leaving the Movies 8 in Provo, the Alhambra in Pleasant Grove, and the Villa Theater in Springville scrambling for a replacement. The Central Square Theaters ended up showing the film at the regular first-run admission price of $5.50.
