Drive-In Theater Robbed, Believed To Be Children
Green River Journal, 24 November 1955, page 4
The Drive-In Theater south of Green River, was broken into between the hours of 6:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Friday, October 21st. Mrs. Joe Allen stated that at 6:30 Friday morning everyting was alright, but when she went back at 4:30 that afternoon, the south window of the Snack Bar had been pryed open.
Children were believed to be the culprits as candy, pop and gum was all that was taken. A box of pennies on the counter, was left untouched. The stolen merchandise was estimated at around $5.00.
Mr. George Wiehing, acting in the absence of Harmon Weber, City Marshall, was called immediately, after the robbery was discovered. Mrs. Allen suggested that there be a check on the school children as to the excess of gum and candy in the possession of children or teen-agers. At this printing, no one knew whether or not the offenders had been found.
Last July there was also a robbery and the loss was thought to be around $15.00 to $20.00. About 30 pounds of weeners and buns were taken, but there was no clue as to who it was. This theft, which took place at night, was also acomplished by prying open the south window of the Snack Bar.
