Elberta Presents Its First Film
Box Elder News, 2 March 1917, page 1
Yesterday afternoon, "ye editor" was invited to witness the first film shown on the screen at the Elberta Theatre. The picture was a dramatization of Hall Cain's book "Whoso Seeketh A Wife" and was produced by the Art Drama Company. The work of the projecting machines was splendid and the seating arrangement of the house admits of a perfect view of the screen from all parts of the auditorium so that when the seats are placed patrons of the house will have a most comfortable view. The film shown was a tryout as the company is a new one in the motion picture producing world, and the Elberta management consented to run the picture to see what it was like. Messrs Shurtliffe and Dredge have a very strong line up with some of the old established producing companies so they will give the best service possible in filmdom. The house will not be ready for opening for another week.
