Centre Manager Resigns For New Theater Post

Chester L. (Chet) Price has resigned as manager of the Centre Theater in Salt Lake City to take over the lease of two theaters and a drive-in at Tooele.

His resignation will be effective Jan. 1, according to Ray M. Hendry, vice president and general manager of Intermountain Theaters, Inc., which operates the Centre.  A successor has not been chosen as yet, Mr. Hendry said.

Mr. Price's resignation ends 23 years of service with Intermountain Theaters, Inc.  He started his show business career as an usher at the old Paramount, now the Uptown.  In successive years, he was assistant manager and manager of theaters operated by Intermountain in Provo, Brigham City, Logan, Twin FAlls, Boise and Salt Lake.

After his return from Navy service in 1945, he was named manager of the Centre in Salt Lake.  Later, he was transferred to Twin Falls as city manager and then to Boise.  He returned to Salt Lake in October, 1952, to again take over the Centre.

When Mr. Price moves to Tooele, he will operate the Ritz, Strand and Tooele Motor Vu, owned by Sam I. Gillette.  Mr. Gillette is leasing the showplaces to devote full time to business of Associated Amusements and West States Theater.  He is vice president of both concerns.

The Strand was built by Mr. Gillete's father, John J. Gillette, in 1914.
