Casino Star Presents Brass Tacks at High School Auditorium
Press Release
Casino Star Theatre, 22 March 2008
The Casino Star Theatre Foundation presents a spring concert at the Gunnison Valley High School auditorium on Thursday, March 27, at 7:00 p.m. The Brass Tacks Quintet, originally scheduled in November at the Casino Star Theatre, has been rescheduled at the high school because of the gasoline leakage from Top Stop, which resulted in the temporary closure of the theatre.
Led by professional trumpeter Ian Murdock, who often performs with the Utah Symphony and Ballet West Orchestras as an extra or substitute, Brass Tacks Quintet was formed in the year 2000. From the beginning, the group has sought to perform diverse styles of music, from early to contemporary classical music to vintage jazz and ragtime.
The Brass Tacks performs for weddings, corporate events, and other gatherings as well as the Utah Arts Festival, the Park City Jazz Festival, Murray Arts in the Park, and the SLC Brown Bag Concert Series. According to Ian, “Each of us holds a degree from the music department of a major university. Our enthusiasm for playing exceptional music is clear in each note. As leader, I will see to it that our performance is ideal, from the smallest details to the overall ambience.”
Tickets will be available at the door on the night of the performance. Advance tickets are available at the Sanpete Messenger office in Manti, Rasmussen’s Ace Hardware in Gunnison, and from Lori Nay (435-529-7136) and Diana Spencer (435-979-2798).
This concert is part of the on-going fund-raising efforts of the Casino Star Theatre Foundation, with all proceeds applied to the restoration of this remarkable historic building. Suggested donation for the concert is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for seniors and students.
