The Casino Star Theatre will present “An Evening with Thurl Bailey,” on Wednesday, September 15, at 7:00 p.m., as the first program of the 2010-11 concert season. Bailey’s appearance in Gunnison is part of a collaboration between the Excellence in the Community Concert Series and the Casino Star to bring Utah performing artists to venues throughout the state.
Well known in Utah for his Jazz years as “Big T,” and currently recognized as “the Voice of the Jazz,” Bailey’s activities as singer and actor may come as a surprise. As his playing days wound down during his second stint with the Jazz in 1999, he turned to other dreams, including singing and acting. Now he has three CDs and several movies behind him.
He also stays busy as a broadcast analyst with the Jazz, motivational speaker, and head of a number of charitable organizations. Since he joined the LDS Church in 1995, he is in great demand for firesides and inspirational talks.
