Grand Motor-Vu Theatre

Times Independent, 25 February 1954, page 1

For some time, they say, Raphael Palfreyman and Howard Lance have been investigating the possibilities of a Drive-In Theatre for Moab.

Thursday and Friday of last week they visited drive-in theatres in Price and Salt Lake, and while there made plans for the purchase of the latest in modern equipment.

The drive-in is to be located on the Lance property two miles south of town on highway 160.

Mr. Lance and Mr. Palfreyman state that movie equipment dealers who have been in looking over the site told them it was ideal in size and location.

For the past three weeks Kent Johnson's graders have been leveling the land. It has progressed to the point now, said Mr. Lance, where it is ready for the installation of the building to house the snack bar, the projectors, etc.

The large 60 x 70 foot screen will be so constructed, that it may be enlarged for cinemascope when this equipment becomes available, it is understood.

The Grand Junction Sentinel is said to have reported that Moab is to have three drive-in theatres, but we believe two will be enough for the present. The Nu-Vu and now The Grand Motor-Vu.
