Only one week remains to obtain tickets for the benefit premiere of Walt Disney's six-million dollar production of "Sleeping Beauty," being sponsored by The Salt Lake Tribune and Salt Lake Valley Kiwanis Clubs.
The premiere will be in the Villa Theatre June 3 at 8:30 p.m.
Adapted in Technicolor from the classic love story, the production is heightened by the music from Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty Ballet," rendered in six-channel stereophonic sound.
"Sleeping Beauty" is the first animated show filmed in Technirama-70 process, giving lifelike three-dimensional viewing.
And all funs gained from the big premiere will form a scholarship pool administered by the Exceptional Child Parent-Teacher Assn. for teachers to gain needed extra training for instruction of Utah's handicapped children.
Tickets are available at the Uptown Theatre, 53 S. Main, from a special box office open daily from noon to 5 p.m., and at the Villa Theater each evening.
In addition, members of the Bonneville, Salt Lake and Sugar House Kiwanis clubs have tickets available. Mail orders addressed to Sleeping Beauty Box Office, Uptown Theatre, 53 S. Main, Salt Lake City 10, Utah, will be filled.
In addition to the ballet music, six new songs have been written for the picture based on melodies by Tchaikovsky.
The picture is the product of 20 years of planning by Mr. Disney and six years of actual production. The animated attraction involved more than a million drawings created by more than 300 artists.
