Awards from Governor and Utah Heritage Foundation

Thursday, May 2, at the Mountain West Arts Conference, Gunnison's Mayor Lori Nay accepted the Governor's Award for Leadership in the Arts in the Community category.  The partnership between Gunnison City and the Casino Star Theatre Foundation has impressed observers statewide for the public arts projects, live concert programming, and arts education experiences in the schools.  Diana Spencer joined Lori on stage to signify their close partnership in producing programs and projects enjoyed by the entire Gunnison Valley.

Next Thursday, May 9, Diana and Lori will accept a Heritage Award from the Utah Heritage Foundation for the careful and beautiful restoration of the theatre.

Both awards, of course, belong to all the volunteers, concert-goers, committee members, teachers and workers who participate in beautifying our Valley.
