New Theater In Ogden Sets Opening
Salt Lake Tribune, 24 January 1971, page E5
A new Ogden theater, the New Alhambra Theatre, will officially open Friday with a production of "The Fantasticks," which will be repeated Saturday, and Feb. 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13. Curtain time is 8 p.m.
The new hall is named after Ogden's largest theater, The Alhambra, which was once the center of legitimate drama and vaudeville and which is currently being torn down. The new theater is located at 2550 Washington Blvd., the site of the old Masonic Temple.
Many of the ornate decorations, chandeliers and painted drops from the old theater have been donated for use in The New Alhambra, which seats 175 persons.
The theater is an effort of Weber State College students, Adelle Barnett, Larry Fulton, Ray Myers and Larry West.
The Saturday performance is a March of Dimes benefit, and formal attire is requested.
"The Fantasticks" cast includes Mary Jane Hoffman, Kevin Wheelwright, Larry West, Jerry Buller, Ray Myers, Kenneth Post, Mike Peterson, Larry Fulton and Patty Daniels.
