'Brothers Grimm' Unfold Tales for S.L. Shut-Ins
Salt Lake Tribune, 7 February 1963, page 10A
Tales of dragons, princesses, bold knights and magic fantasy as recorded by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were presented in Cinerama sight and sound Wednesday to a group of shut-ins.
NEARLY A THOUSAND patients of children's hospitals, children's day-care centers and and a group of specially invited senior citizens, were treated to special showing of the Cinerama production, "The Wondeful World of the Brothers Grimm," at the Villa Theatre, 3092 Highland Dr.
THE SPECIAL SHOWING of the Cinerama film, free to those invited, was made available by MGM, Cinerama and Fox Intermountain Theatres.
To assist in making the film available for the special group, the Salt Lake Kiwanis Club provided transportation for about 200 senior citizens.
JACK SIMONS, project chairman, said the senior citizens were picked up at rest and nursing homes throughout Salt Lake City by charter buses, then returned to their quarters after the show.
Refreshments during the intermission were provided by The Salt Lake Tribune.
TED KIRKMEYER, Salt Lake manager for Fox Intermountain Theatres, said the Cinerama picture is nearing the end of its run at the Villa Theatre. He said Wednesday's event was arranged so the children and oldsters will not miss the showing.
Services of projection machine operators for the special Cinerama equipment were made available by Local 250 of the Intermountain Association of Theatrical and Stage Employees.
There were no paid admissions at the Villa Theatre Wednesday, it being reserved for the special showing.
