Salt Lake Tribune, 30 May 1976, page 10B
Trolley Theaters, Inc., which currently operates seven first-run screens in the Salt Lake Valley, Saturday announced a $1 million expansion, to be completed by November.
A four-screen theater will be located in the Family Center Shopping Complex at 7200 - 9th East.
This is the first step in an expansion that will eventually bring to 14 the number of screens in the Trolley chain in the area.
The chain opened four 300-seat theaters at Trolley Square in June, 1972. There are two 290-seat theaters - Trolley Theatres North - in Bountiful, which opened in October, 1974. And, last October, Midtown Trolley Theatre, a remodeled 412-seat hall, opened at 272 S. Main.
Groundbreaking for the four additional screens is set for June 15, said Jerry M. Place, executive vice president of the chain.
Two theaters will seat 300 patrons each and two will seat 400 each. The theaters will be free-standing and there will be abundant parking, said Mr. Place.
