Kane County Standard, 10 January 1930, page 1
According to the Garfield County News, Mr. McIff, manager of the Hub Theatre in Panguitch will install the "Talkies" in his theatre some time before January 15. Kanab people are hoping that Mr. Young of the Star Theatre will do the same thing here. The article from the News reads:
Filmtone Talkie For Panguitch.
"O. E. McIff, manager of the Hub Theatre, is making his theatre up-to-date in every sense of the world by installing one of the latest up-to-date Filmtone "Talkies." Mr. McIff tells us the "Talkie" will be installed some time before January 15. The Filmtone Talkie, as the name indicates, runs direct from the film, and not from regular records as do some of the cheaper machines. The Filmtone talking machine is made by Nathaniel Baldwin in his factory at Salt Lake City, Utah. Statistics show that there are more Filmtone talking machines than any other kind, which only proves that we are getting one of the best talking pictures on the market. This machine will be installed at the expense of $2,000, and to help meet this expense, Mr. McIff is selling coupon tickets for $12.50 per book of fifty tickets which admits you to all shows for twenty-five cents, while some of the shows will run from thirty-five to fifty cents. So by buying one of these books you save at the very least $7.50. He has only a limited number of books left. Get yours now, for the sale closes Monday, January 6."
